[New legislation](https://www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au/media-centre/news/changes-workplace-exposure-standard-welding-fumes) requires employers to act. Now, welding fume intake cannot exceed an average of 1mg per cubic metre of air, measured over an eight-hour day. Employers want to do the right thing. Yet confusion exists over the best way to implement and monitor the new rules.   Blackwoods can provide a custom, end-to-end welding fume extraction solution, based on your site and tailored to your budget. Our welding fume specialists are on hand to explain the legal changes, assess your requirements, and demonstrate the latest equipment in your workplace, before you buy.   ### **Select from market-leading welding fume products** When we understand your budget and requirements, we can craft the optimum package from our trusted suppliers. Remember, you need to protect everyone in the workshop vicinity, not just the individual welder. We recommend a combined approach, especially in larger industrial settings, factoring in PAPR helmets, fume guns and mobile extraction units for maximum effect.   The following examples show the range of equipment available through Blackwoods. **AWS Translas On Gun Fume Extraction Kit** Offering premium welding fume protection, the [AWS fume gun](https://www.blackwoods.com.au/welding-gas/fume-extraction/fume-extraction-carts/aws-fps400s-on-gun-fume-extraction-kit-translas-400amp-860-fps180/p/04084373) offers 360° swivel and high-efficiency filter. **3M Speedglas Welding Helmet with PAPR Respirator** Equipped with the PAPR (powered air purifying respirator), this [high-spec helmet](https://www.blackwoods.com.au/welding-gas/welding-safety/welding-helmets/3m-speedglas-617830-g5-01vc-welding-helmet-with-heavy-duty-adflo-papr-respirator/p/00407902) has the highest optical classification. **ESAB OrigiVac Cart** ESAB's [mobile vacuum cart](https://www.blackwoods.com.au/welding-gas/fume-extraction/fume-extraction-carts/cigweld-esab-0700003895-origovac-cart-3-3m-suction-arm-work-light-mobile-plugnplay-fume-extractor-eu-au-240v/p/04046871) (hooded capture) is suitable for a range of light to medium welding applications. **Lincoln Electric Welding Fume Filtration System** Reducing the overall concentration of welding fume in the workshop, the [Circulator Pro W3](https://www.blackwoods.com.au/welding-gas/fume-extraction/fume-extraction-carts/lincoln-electric-circ003-pro-w3-circulator-freestanding-general-welding-fume-filtration-system/p/04201673) supplements on-site ventilation. **Weldclass Mobile Welding Fume Extractor** Weldclass [portable fume extraction carts](https://www.blackwoods.com.au/welding-gas/fume-extraction/fume-extraction-carts/weldclass-allclear-91100ma1-ma100-mobile-welding-fume-extractor-single-arm-230v-3m/p/04203203) allow for easy relocation to different sections of the factory floor.   #### **Why tighten up on welding fume protection?** Help protect your workers – and your business – with welding fume solutions. - **Worker safety:** Protect long-term employee health and wellbeing. - **Legal compliance:** Meet current, more stringent welding fume intake limits. - **Industry reputation:** Retain your trusted name while keeping workers safe. - **Worker loyalty:** Win and retain top skilled labour with peak safety measures.   ##### **Blackwoods holistic welding fume solutions** According to Brooke Aubrey, Blackwoods Technical Welding Specialist, employers are now being forced to re-think the way they protect their workers. > “*It’s about compliance with new legal standards and the vital protection of worker safety,”* he says. *“We’re seeing the health impacts of airborne particles across a range of industries, including welding.
