“You simply insert a roll of screws, press the gun against the plaster and it fires in a screw,” Shaun explains. “It’s now a one-handed operation and a plasterer can do a whole room without stopping to reload.” A Single brand the way to go. "Which brand you choose is up to you, but I do recommend sticking to a single brand for all your tools,” he says.

Batteries are interchangeable for all tools within a brand, helping save money and reduce waste. During a recent factory visit, Shaun found staff were using four brands.

“We inspected different parts of the factory and talked to the workers then we came up with a list of equivalent tools from a single supplier. That will assist businesses by reducing battery requirements and simplifying repairs, maintenance and re-ordering,” he says. “Blackwoods can also arrange for an on-site demonstration by our suppliers before you buy.” Shaun’s passion for his job is obvious.

He has now been with the company for 35 years in different roles. As a company veteran, he enjoys mentoring the younger team members.

“When you’re just starting out, you don’t always know the answers to every question. I’m more than happy to help out with technical advice.”

In his off time, Shaun enjoys spending time with family and friends over a meal, and watching a good game of sport!
