How to get the most out of CRC's Brakleen® Cleaner
Keeping vehicle brakes free of road debris, grease and dust build-up is essential for safe and efficient stopping. But there’s no doubt brake cleaning can be a time-consuming, messy and frustrating task – especially when maintaining large vehicle fleets. This is why CRC Industries developed Brakleen, an aerosol spray designed to clean brakes without the need for disassembly.
Here’s what it is and how to use it.
Fast and efficient brake cleaning with Brakleen
Brakleen is designed to remove contaminants from brake parts using chlorinated solvents and controlled evaporation.
Here are some of its features and benefits:
- Safely and quickly cleans away contaminants such as oil and grease from vehicle brakes without the need for disassembly.
- Excellent cleaner for all brake parts – including drums, linings, callipers, discs, and pads.
- Can clean oil and grease build-up that has already penetrated brake linings.
- Acts as a preventative by helping to reduce contaminant build-up.
- As an evaporative product, it reduces the need for soaking, rinsing or wiping. Its fast evaporation helps minimise downtime and the associated costs.
- Product is non-staining and non-corrosive.
- Can be used to clean other metallic parts– for example clutches, dies, bearings and moulds.
- Available in original form, with a number of variants, including non-chlorinated, non-flammable, water-based and extra strength (FORCE) formulations.
- Product can be purchased by in bulk and dispensed into spray bottles for use.
Brakleen is not only for auto mechanics. It can be used in a wide range of industries, including agriculture and mining. It can be used in the home garage as well.
There a few simple steps you can take to get the most out of Brakleen parts cleaner.
Applications – getting the most from Brakleen
Tips for use:
- Wear protective gloves and goggles to protect hands and eyes.
- Use short bursts of the spray on the surfaces that need cleaning, from a distance of around 60cms. Follow this up with continued spraying to remove contaminants, using a wire brush where necessary to remove built-up dust and dirt.
- When finished, allow the product to evaporate and the parts to dry.
- Repeat the application if required.
- Never use Brakleen to clean your hands. If some of the product does get on your hands/skin, wash immediately with plenty of water.
- Brakleen shouldn’t be inhaled – make sure to use it in a well-ventilated space.
- Avoid getting overspray on painted surfaces or on plastic or rubber.
- Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, flame or ignition.
- Store the product after use in a well-ventilated space and with the lid tightly closed.
“CRC Brakleen gives you a fast, efficient and easy way to keep brakes and other parts in top condition,” says David Bailey, Field Sales & Contracts Manager for CRC Industries Australia. “You can also use CRC’s Silaramic Brake System Grease as a follow up after cleaning, to help protect brake parts from ongoing dirt build-up and corrosion.”
