Preventing contamination in food and beverage manufacturing is vital. Yet machinery and equipment on production lines requires the use of cleaning and maintenance chemicals to keep it in top condition.
Manufacturers need products that help protect equipment, while being safe to use around food and reducing the potential for contamination, waste and costly downtime.
CRC Industries offers a solution
CRC Industries makes a range of food-grade maintenance products that are formulated to be safe for incidental contact with food.
There are five key types of products available.
1. LubricantsMachinery in food processing facilities, from conveyor belts to mixers and slicers, requires regular lubrication to function efficiently. CRC’s food-grade lubricants are NSF-registered and HACCP-certified.
Examples include:
- CRC Food Grade Chain Lube FG03055 is designed for the lubrication of chains and conveyors operating in wet or dry conditions. It resists water wash-off, helps extend chain life and prevents rust.
- CRC Food Grade Machine Oil FG03081 is a versatile lubricant for bearings, slides and hinges that is clear, odourless and tasteless.
- CRC Food Grade Silicone FG03040 provides long-lasting lubrication and protection for plastic and rubber components. It’s suitable for environments where moisture resistance is essential.
Cleaning agents must effectively remove grime, fats and residues while being safe for use around food. CRC offers several food-grade cleaners that help break down contaminants without leaving harmful residues.
Examples include:
- CRC Food Grade Cleaner FG03130 is a fast-evaporating, residue-free cleaner for electrical and mechanical equipment.
- CRC Food Grade Bio Degreaser FG05167 is formulated to dissolve stubborn fats and oils while being non-toxic and safe for use in food areas.
3. Anti-seize and assembly compounds
Fasteners, fittings and machinery parts in food and beverage processing plants often require anti-seize compounds to prevent galling and corrosion.
CRC’s Food Grade Anti-Seize & Lubricating Compound FGSL35905 lubricates threaded connections for easy assembly and disassembly, even in high-humidity or wet areas. It’s formulated to withstand extreme temperatures and exposure to washdowns, without contaminating food.
4. Penetrants
CRC’s Food Grade Penetrant FG03086 is designed for use where food safety is paramount. NSF-registered and HACCP certified, it penetrates rust and corrosion to free stuck components.
5. Greases
CRC’s food-grade greases offer reliable performance in extreme conditions. These greases are formulated to be odourless and tasteless, and protect against moisture, heat and pressure.
- CRC Food Grade Grease FGSL35600 is a multipurpose grease designed for bearings and moving parts exposed to water or washdowns.
- CRC Food Grade Synthetic Grease FGSL35610 provides long-lasting lubrication for equipment exposed to high temperatures and heavy loads.
All these products form an essential part of CRC’s GREENLIGHT™ Food Safety Program.
Why it matters?
CRC Trans-Tasman Director of Sales, Martin Davies, says that in addition to the range of products, the program offers manufacturers an audit compliance toolkit.
“CRC also offers site surveys for manufacturers while also providing on-going updates to ensure these businesses remain at the highest level of regulatory compliance.”
