Across the full spectrum of applications, welders require continuous protection from a range of optical and respiratory hazards. These hazards can become more intensive during heavy-duty welding at higher amperages, and demand highly durable and resilient protection.
Welders have plenty of suitable PPE to choose from. But only a select few of these protective options are specifically optimised for the toughest welding conditions. Based on extensive input from welders working at high amperages who need to grind frequently, the 3M™ Speedglas™ G5-01 Welding Helmet was designed to suit heavy-duty applications in harsh environments.
Next-level welding lens options
The Speedglas G5-01 is available with two feature-packed welding lens options.
The G5-01VC offers Variable Colour Technology in the dark state, True-View in the light state, and an extra dark shade 14 for high amp welding (full shade range 3/5, 8-14). The Speedglas G5-01TW enhances True-View technology with an extra bright shade 2.5 light state (full shade range 2.5/3, 8-13). The lens also uses an intermediate shade 5 light state to minimise eye strain during tack welding.
Customisable feature-packed protection
The helmet offers a suite of state-of-the-art features to maximise comfort, performance and protection. For extended grinding and other non-welding applications, the welding visor can be seamlessly flipped up (or even removed altogether) to reveal an extra-large clear grinding visor, offering high-impact face protection and 180-degree vision.
Industry-leading respiratory protection comes courtesy of the Heavy-Duty 3M™ Adflo™ Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR). This respirator supplies a constant flow of filtered air directly into the welder’s breathing zone, with a 12-hour battery to suit longer shifts. The direction of the cool, clean air can be adjusted thanks to unique Climate Control functionality - ideal for hot, stifling, heavy-duty welding conditions.
The Speedglas G5-01 effectively empowers welders to customise their protection with a range of extended head and neck coverage options and optional accessories to offer a more comfortable welding experience. A durable helmet-mounted task light is available for hours of powerful lighting in poorly lit environments, as well as an optional heavy-duty PAPR backpack to improve comfort and balance during longer shifts.
