Fast and Simple Pipe Repair for Every Industry

Rapp-it

Rapp-it Pipe Repair Bandages are an essential stores item for every Australian worksite where there’s a risk of pipes bursting, cracking or leaking. From manufacturing to construction and shipping, Rapp-it buys valuable time in an emergency, helping avoid costly delays and keeping operations moving.

A self-contained Rapp-it kit has all you need for a quick fix that gets you out of trouble – bandage, a 90mm stick of Steel Putty and protective nitrile gloves. Successful repairs can be carried out in just 30 minutes.

Here’s how Rapp-it is being used in real-world situations across Australia.

  • A clean energy project.Clean Energy

Structural concrete mixes in North Queensland require chilled water. The chiller on a clean energy project sprung a leak, losing glycol. Rapp-it came to the rescue, getting the construction team back in the game in 30 minutes.

  • A renewables project.

A 65mm NB grout line running up to 16 bar of pressure on a renewables project needed an urgent repair. The rubber hose (wound with metal spiral) was being used to transfer a grout mixture to a tunnel boring machine at a pumped hydro station. Rapp-it saved the day.

  • On board a ship.Renewables[85]

A box cooler chest responsible for cooling the main engine on a ship blew a gasket. The failure meant rapid loss of engine coolant while the vessel was engaged in a tow. Rapp-it was applied to prevent further leakage. The customer now sees this repair as semi-permanent, until a manufacturer repair is carried out.

  • Fertiliser production.

Rapp-it is being used to repair and maintain badly corroded pipework in a fertiliser manufacturing plant. Not only does Rapp-it repair the pipes, it adds mechanical protection as well.

The head of the maintenance team said he had used Rapp-it in a previous job, and demonstrated its capabilities to the plant’s inspection team. “We use Rapp-it each week on-site with great success, and it’s part of our coating systems.”

How simple is Rapp-it to use?

Very! There’s just a few steps involved in the application. Shut down the pipe or hose for optimum results, then clean and roughen the damaged area with a metal file or wire brush. Use the outer pouch to carry water for the application, but remember to only open the inner bandage packaging when you’re ready to apply it (after the putty).

Mix the Rapp-it Steel Putty to an even colour (make sure there’s no black and grey zebra striping) and apply firmly to the hole or crack.

Soak the bandage in water for 10-20 seconds, then apply the bandage quickly, wrapping it tightly for the strongest repair. Using wet gloves, squeeze the bandage with a rotating motion until the resin stops foaming. The bandage should be at least 10mm thick over the leak, which usually requires 12 to 15 wraps around the pipe.
