Surekleen dusty can help clear the air [![Picture of Surekleen](https://blog.blackwoods.com.au/hubfs/BWS%20Logo%20(2).png) Surekleen](https://blog.blackwoods.com.au/author/surekleen) : 29 June 2026 Unsealed roads? Surekleen dusty can help clear the air 3:30 Heavy vehicles, constant use and harsh environmental conditions can take a toll on unsealed roads across mining, construction, industrial and quarry sites. When not compacted on road surfaces, the crushed or powdered material known as fines can become airborne. The impacts can include health risks due to varying levels of silica, reduced visibility, increased wear and tear on vehicles and heavy machinery, and increased downtime. Water is often used to help keep dust under control, but having water trucks on high enough rotation to be effective can be time-consuming and expensive. This is where a new product can help. Manufactured in Australia, [Dusty](https://www.blackwoods.com.au/hygiene-cleaning/hygiene-cleaning-miscellaneous/hygiene-cleaning-miscellaneous/surekleen-dusty-dust-suppressant-bio-derived-concentrate-1000l/p/04748053) is a bio-derived dust suppression product from Indigenous-owned business [Surekleen](https://www.blackwoods.com.au/surekleen/b/16192373). ### **Performing as prevention - and cure!** [Dusty](https://www.blackwoods.com.au/hygiene-cleaning/hygiene-cleaning-miscellaneous/hygiene-cleaning-miscellaneous/surekleen-dusty-dust-suppressant-bio-derived-concentrate-1000l/p/04748053) has been developed using lignosulfonates sourced from a Victorian paper mill’s natural pulp byproduct. The dehydrated concentrate is mixed with water and pumped into a water truck ready for spraying on road surfaces. The ratio of Dusty to water is adjusted according to the make-up of the road surface, the environmental conditions and the traffic volume. Rather than temporarily wetting down dust, Dusty is designed to bind the fine particles together, helping stabilise the surface, lock in moisture, reduce corrugations and loose material, and prevent dust from becoming airborne. Dusty can also be used as a mix-in when roads are built, to support longer-term moisture retention and surface durability right from the start. Sam Smith, CEO of Surekleen says, > *“This can result in longer-lasting roads, reduced maintenance requirements, lower water consumption and improved operational performance over the life of the asset."* Dusty can be used on mining haul roads, quarry roads and heavy industrial access roads that experience thousands of heavy vehicle movements a day, often in dry conditions with strong wind and high temperatures.   ### **More than just effective dust suppression.** The use of Dusty can also deliver benefits beyond dust control. As an Indigenous-owned business certified by Supply Nation, Surekleen products can help support Indigenous procurement goals. Sales of Surekleen products also make a difference to Indigenous communities on the ground. Through Surekleen’s “[Clean with Purpose](https://blog.blackwoods.com.au/surekleen-effective-cleaning-products-with-purpose)” partnership with Blackwoods, a portion of product sales is allocated to support Indigenous education initiatives through not-for-profit partners, including Madalah, Tjindu, the Korin Gamadji Institute and Epic Pathways. Sam says these partners have a proven track record of helping Indigenous students overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. He adds that giving back to communities isn't something the business sees as a corporate responsibility initiative, it's part of who they are. > *“We place a strong emphasis on supporting organisations that are deeply connected to the communities they serve. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we recognise that the needs of Indigenous students can vary significantly across different regions of Australia,”* Sam says. *“By partnering with local organisations that understand these unique challenges and opportunities, we can ensure that the support generated through Clean with Purpose delivers meaningful and lasting impact.”* ### Why Blackwoods?
