Tiger by Bullivants Hoisting Range
The Tiger by Bullivants range of hoisting equipment is Bullivants’ premium range of manual hoisting equipment. Renowned as some of the best in the industry, it is the equipment of choice for many quality and safety organisations. Features such as the Quad Cam pawls, centrifugal safety brake system and load limiters ensure that your safety is never compromised.
This range extends even further than chain and lever blocks and includes advanced capability clamps, trolleys and hand winches.

When choosing a manual hoist, the minimum load to be lifted is as important as the maximum load. The brake engagement force is an important factor to be considered when selecting lever and chain blocks. Brake engagement force (also referred to as light load rating) is the minimum force expressed as a percentage that will engage the braking system to prevent a load from dropping. Tiger by Bullivants - Pro Series
The Tiger by Bullivants PRO series include the lever block (PROLH) which range from 800kg – 20t and the chain block (PROCB) with a range of 250kg – 35t. All sizes are also available with the overload protection function.
A patented braking system feature has been designed by Tiger to enhance the safety of their lever hoists and chain blocks. This unique design ensures there is always permanent engagement of one of the pawls in the ratchet wheel.
The reciprocating action always forces the pawl into the gear even without a pawl spring. This ensures the brake is always fully functional. With a conventional twin pawl brake mechanism (tear drop design), failure can occur if the pawl spring erodes, fractures or a shock load bounces the pawls out of the ratchet gear. Without the spring, these systems rely on gravity keeping the pawls engaged and are flawed when the hoist is used at angles away from the vertical. Tiger’s quad cam pawl system is fitted to PROCB/SS20 chain blocks and PROLH/SS19 lever hoists.
Tiger uses an 8-point multi start thread pinion shaft which increases brake reaction times. The rotational engagement of the brake works with the direction of the load sheave creating highly efficient braking ratios – up to 50% measurable difference compared with longitudinal push-pull brake systems.
Tiger by Bullivants - OLP
The Tiger OLP range contains all the safety features and benefits of the PROLH range with the addition of Overload Protection (OLP).
Tiger OLP chain blocks and lever blocks are fitted with a slipping clutch overload mechanism to minimise the chance of overload during lifting operations. This feature is designed to prevent damage or failure of the hoist ensuring the safety of the operator and preventing dropped loads. The overload feature functions by allowing the hand wheel (chain block) or handle (lever block) to rotate without applying excess load to the gearbox, preventing further hoisting of the load.
It is important to note that not all overload systems are equal, some brands completely lock the hoist creating a situation where a larger hoist or crane is then required to be used to take up the load and lower it safely to the ground. The OLP feature in the Tiger by Bullivants range allows safe lowering of the load even when the load limit has been exceeded.
Tiger by Bullivants - Corrosion Resistant
Developed for use in the North Sea oil & gas industry, Tiger SS19 & SS20 are maximised for corrosion resistance when used in seawater and other harsh environments.
Tiger’s SS19 and SS20 hoists are corrosion resistant hoists fitted with marine specific friction discs and internal components are finished with OCP coating and externally completed with a two-stage finish combining electroplating as a base layer and then finished with a very hard-wearing sand texture powder coating paint.
SS19 Lever block brake chambers are additionally fitted with gaskets to prevent water intrusion and external contamination which offers excellent corrosion protection and high impact protection ideally suited for multi-immersion applications. This two-stage finish is free from heavy metals and other harmful or environmentally undesirable additives, giving the Subsea range a fully corrosion protected body and components to ensure reliable long-term use with high impact protection.
Whilst designed for subsea use in the Oil & Gas industry, the anti-corrosion design makes them ideal for use in harsh environments such as water treatment plants, chemical plants, shipping industry and general marine and coastal applications.
Its operating temperature range of -40°C to +80°C far exceeds the requirements of current standards.
Tiger by Bullivants - Spark Resistant
In many areas of industry, lifting equipment is required to be operated in potentially explosive atmospheres. Due to the very high risk to personnel and other assets, extremely strict guidelines and technical requirements are in place in explosive zones. Tiger’s spark resistant chain blocks, lever hoists, beam clamps, trolleys and combination blocks and trolley units are suitable for gas and dust hazardous areas.
Tiger Spark Resistant products are lightweight and were developed for the use in potentially explosive atmosphere (ATEX zones). This equipment range is coated with special spark resistant coatings, offers different capacities and heights of lift to suit your specific requirements and are also available with stainless steel load chain and overload protection.
Tiger by Bullivants - ROV compatible chain block
The Tiger by Bullivants ROV compatible chain block is available in various interface options including hydraulic hot stab, rotary torque receptable, D-handle, T-bar, fishtail and QD direct drive options for use in the subsea offshore industry. Available as 3t, 10t, 15t and 20t capacity chain blocks, chained up to project specific heights of lift (HOL) that can be pre-set to meet the exact starting point required within the rigging drawings. These units use the specialist SS20 corrosion resistant chain block as a base hoisting unit.
