Success in the Supercars series doesn’t come down to raw speed alone. It’s about the people behind the machines, and the shared commitment that keeps everything moving - on and off the track. Few partnerships embody this spirit of teamwork better than the long-running connection between Brad Jones Racing (BJR) and Blackwoods.
As the only Supercars Championship team based in regional Australia, BJR has carved its own path from Albury - far from the major metropolitan hubs most teams call home. Step into the workshop, and you’ll feel it instantly - the buzz of a close-knit crew competing in Australasia’s premier motorsport category, driven by pride, passion and a deeply engrained sense of family. Brothers Brad and Kim Jones brought that ethos with them when they entered Supercars in 2000, backed by an already impressive racing background across multiple categories.
The same family-orientated culture continues to shape the team’s identity today. It’s a culture of loyalty, hard work and collaboration - and in 2025, it helped deliver another strong result with a 7th-place finish in the Team’s Championship. This spirit of teamwork makes BJR’s relationship with Blackwoods a natural fit. Both organisations share a similar energy - collaborative, down-to-earth and fuelled by genuine connection.
Since teaming up in 2017, Blackwoods has become essential to BJR’s day-to-day operations. From Prosafe gloves and safety gear to JBS hand tools, welding supplies, cutting tools, adhesives, lubricants and abrasives, Blackwoods equips the crew with the equipment they need to keep the cars competitive. But what really fuels the partnership isn’t equipment - it’s engagement.
Team owner Brad Jones is an ambassador for Blackwoods, promoting its JBS and PROSAFE brands at corporate events. He brings the thrill of Supercars directly to the Blackwoods community, hosting hot laps with his drivers, leading pit lane walkthroughs and running Q&A sessions at local Blackwoods branches ahead of major race weekends. His involvement adds something truly special, bringing the partnership to life in a way that is authentic and memorable for everyone involved.
Blackwoods GM Category & Technical Chris Jones says this human connection is where the partnership shines.
“Brad has been fantastic at bringing Blackwoods on the journey in supporting the sport of Supercars and the fans of Brad Jones Racing.”
From BJR’s side, the feeling is mutual. Brad Jones says Blackwoods has become integral to the team’s ability to keep pushing - especially when the pressure is on.
“It doesn’t matter what it is we need, we can rely on Blackwoods to source the product or equipment in the shortest possible time. Every time we have had pressure to turn the cars around quickly, and we need products to repair the cars, Blackwoods staff are extremely helpful.”
That support has become more important than ever, with BJR recently navigating an exciting new chapter - the switch from Chevrolet to Toyota. Over the past six months, the 55-strong crew has been working at full throttle to build four Toyota Supras for the 2026 season, relying heavily on Blackwoods every step of the way.
“We have products and equipment delivered from Blackwoods every week. From welding the chassis together to bolting the last part on the Supra, we used products and tools supplied from Blackwoods,” Brad says.
The result is something special.
“It’s exciting to be part of bringing a new manufacturer into Supercars. We are very honoured to be one of only two teams selected. Building the cars from ground up and seeing them morph into the very first BJR-built Toyota Supras is a very proud moment for both me and all the staff at BJR.”
The bond between BJR and Blackwoods is proof of what can happen when two teams share values, trust and a genuine commitment to moving forward together. It’s not only a sponsorship. It’s teamwork - in the truest sense of the word!
