Portable Crimper Keeps Machinery Running, Wherever You Are

Written by Continental | Feb 5, '24

Australia is a huge country, with people living and working in a bunch of rugged, hard-to-reach locations.

If you’re a tradie, farmer, mining or construction worker, operating anywhere outside the cities, you know just how tough it can be to keep your equipment up and running on remote worksites.

It’s an age-old problem. Your machinery breaks down in the middle of an important job. You’re, say, two hundred kilometres from the nearest hose repair shop. The deadline looms, with the entire project on the line.

You can’t get to the repair shop. So, why not bring the repair shop to you?

Reduce downtime, keep work flowing

The Continental Portable Hydraulic Hose Crimper is just that – it’s mobile. At around 26 kilos, you can pick it up and carry it wherever it needs to go.

It’s an essential part of your toolbox. Just store it in the back of the ute or work vehicle. That way, it’s always on hand as and when you need it.

You don’t have to lose hours, days or even weeks, getting your hose fixed and your hydraulics back in business. The solution, quite literally, is in your hands.

The crimper is a lot cheaper than setting up a workshop or mobile van, and you don’t need any special skills to operate it. It’s also low maintenance, and pretty much trouble free.

How the crimper works

It’s easy to use, with 1” braided and ¾” spiral capabilities.

Keep it in your vehicle, with an air compressor and foot pump, and you’re ready for action. Just connect the foot pump to the air source, then wait for the red light.

You can fix hoses and make new hoses, giving you great worksite flexibility.

The crimper fits a wide variety of hoses, on a wide variety of machinery. Braided hose takes ¼” up to 1”, while spiral hose takes ¼” up to ¾” inches.

It’s fully adjustable, so you can make precise and repeatable crimps, to fit the job in hand.

As always on worksites, wear the appropriate safety gloves and goggles to stay protected.

Who, what, where - the crimper’s potential

The crimper is a key tool for any business operating diggers, cranes, bulldozers, excavators, graders and agricultural vehicles like tractors.

Wherever you rely on a hydraulic arm to get the job done, the portable crimper is a vital standby to keep work operations running in the event of breakdown.

It significantly reduces downtime and stoppages across a range of sectors including civil and commercial construction, mining and agriculture.

Because it’s portable, it goes straight to the source of the problem. If your digger is on a ledge, or your tractor is working on a hill, you can fix broken hoses on the spot.

Steve McIlwaine, Product Manager of Hydraulics at Blackwoods, says: “This crimper is the perfect solution for all businesses, from large corporate entities to SMEs. It’s a quick, easy, lightweight, affordable and portable tool that can be carried to almost any location where service is required."
