New Levels of Safety in a Fuel Can

Mayo Hardware Safety Cans

Safety and fuel don’t always mix. Ask anyone who’s tried to pour petrol or diesel straight from a can.

It’s messy and risky. Chances are, though, you don’t have much choice.

If you live and work in a remote area, the nearest fuel station could be kilometres away. As an Australian landscaper or farmer, you rely on a truck, tractor or digger for your trade.

Maybe you work in forestry, mining or construction. Vital machinery needs refueling on a regular basis, often on hard-to-access worksites.

And it needs to be done asap, to avoid costly delays and downtime. So, out comes the standard fuel can – with all the standard problems.

Potential Hazards

It’s heavy, with potential for back injuries. It pours unevenly from the top. That means you have to lift it right up, risking hazardous spills. Flammable vapour is released, with a high ignition risk. And it’s wasteful, with fuel lost in spillages.

Up to now, there hasn’t really been an alternative.

Until SureCan came along.

Built-in protection with SureCan

SureCan offers a new and better way to refuel machinery and equipment.

It’s a type II safety can featuring two openings. One at the top for filling, one at the bottom for dispensing fuel. All other cans on the Aussie market feed and pour from the top, making SureCan unique.

By dispensing fuel from the bottom, you don’t have to raise SureCan higher than necessary, preventing awkward and unsafe lifting or tipping of the container.

Once the pouring spout can be rotated down into the fill tank, the container is high enough to dispense the fuel. Inserting the pouring spout into the fill tank prior to dispensing also eliminates spillage.

Resting SureCan on the equipment during filling reduces stress on the back and shoulders, making the refueling process much more comfortable. SureCan is easy to hold and operate – no more bearhugging to lift the can!

The patented safety trigger release handle provides 100% control over the flow of fuel, avoiding glugging and jerking. SureCan vents under the handle, allowing fuel vapour to escape at the top of the can (the point furthest away from a hot engine), reducing the chance of a flash fire.

SureCan meets a variety of certification requirements, including ASNZS 2906-2001 in Australia and New Zealand, and D.O.T, OSHA, UN & CARB internationally.

Strong and sturdy SureCan

It’s also hard to destroy! In tests, SureCan has been thrown off cliffs and the back of moving vehicles. Yet it stays intact.

The innovative bottom-dispensing technology cleans up the refueling process. It’s also available in two sizes – 8 litre and 19 litre – in both petrol and diesel.

It’s ideal to refill a vehicle on the side of the road, refuel an excavator on a slope, or ready the tractor for a day’s work.

Matthew Tojic, Category Manager at Mayo Hardware, says: “When you buy SureCan, you are buying safety. It’s part of the next generation of fuel cans that reduce manual handling, prioritising safety when you refuel power equipment.”

You are also buying efficiency. Refueling is now a cinch! The can is easy to handle, and a wide range of motion allows filling from most angles.
