Maintaining Worker Comfort in Industrial Buildings

Maintaining comfortable conditions in warehouses, workshops and factories can be a challenge for employers.
Heat from machinery, airborne pollutants from welding and other work processes and humidity can build up, potentially impacting worker safety, comfort and productivity. Fanmaster offers a range of cooling, ventilation and moisture control solutions for industrial workplaces.
- Industrial evaporative coolers
Evaporative units cool an indoor area by drawing hot air over moist cooling pads, and then distributing the cooled air via a fan system. At the same time, fresh air is continuously delivered from outside through open windows or doors. The cooling pads also help absorb airborne pollutants.
Fanmaster’s range of industrial portable evaporative coolers includes the PAC280-A and the PACISD. The PAC280-A can cool areas of up to 50m2. It’s also ideal for spot cooling. It includes three air-inlet sections and a three-speed axial fan for effective air distribution. The PACISD suits a larger workspace, as it can cool an area up to 150m2 in size. It comes with four air inlets and a variable speed axial fan.
- Portable air conditioning
Portable air-conditioners use refrigerant gases for cooling, making them better suited for workplaces in high-humidity areas. Fanmaster’s 6.1KW IPAC-61 can cool an area of up to 50m2 in size. It can also be used for spot cooling and to cool equipment and machinery. It suits warehouses, workshops and factories, but also commercial kitchens, hospitals, offices or even aircraft hangars.
- Drum fans
Industrial drum fans are much more powerful than domestic fans, and they can move a lot of air very quickly. Drum fans can be used alone or in conjunction with industrial coolers for better air distribution. When used with a cooler or air-conditioner, a drum fan may allow units to be set at a higher temperature, helping reduce cooling costs.
Fanmaster’s range of drum fans includes the DFF600, a 600mm compact floor fan for creating a gentle breeze in small indoor zones, and the DFF900. This is a 900mm fan ideal for cooling people and equipment in larger areas.
- Welding fume extractors
Employers need to ensure workers are not exposed to levels of total welding fumes greater than 1 mg/m3 over an eight-hour working day, based on a five-day working week. Fanmaster’s IPFC-075 unit catches fumes at the source. It processes the fumes through a three-stage filtration system. It then returns the clean air back into the environment, providing localised ventilation.
- Dehumidifiers
Dehumidifiers can help control indoor humidity, helping improve worker comfort and protect machinery, equipment and stock from mould and degradation. Fanmaster’s range of high-capacity units includes the IPD-120 and IPD-180.
“The Fanmaster range of essential solutions can help you beat the heat and make your workplace safer, more comfortable and more productive,” Fanmaster General Manager Troy Lopez says.
