Why You Shouldn't Remove a Guard from an Angle Grinder

The purpose of the guard on a machine is to protect you and the people around you from injuries.

There is no reason whatsoever to remove a safety guard from a angle grinder.

Before operating, make sure to:

  • Always check the correct machine guard is attached and in place

  • Always ensure that the guard is positioned correctly to protect you and direct the sparks away from you.

  • Always check that the guard fits around the abrasive product

  • Always check the machine guard is positioned between the wheel and the machine operator

Below are some examples of correct and incorrect positioning of guards.
