The Extended CRC ZINC Range

Written by CRC Industries | May 22, '22

CRC Industries Australia's offering of high-quality zinc aerosol products has been drastically expanded.

10 products are now available alongside CRC’s original Zinc It, Bright Zinc, and “Black” coloured zinc products for Australian customers with CRC Clear Zinc, CRC Prime It, CRC Prep It, CRC Etch It, and six CRC Coloured Zincs now available direct from CRC Industries Australia and via stockists nationwide.

“The rusting process takes place when iron or steel is exposed to atmospheric oxygen in the presence of water. When this happens, the metal is degraded and forms ferric rust which is a red-brown compound and a real scourge for our customers,” a CRC Industries representative, explained.

“Metallic zinc coating is universally accepted as the best method of rust prevention and we are proud to now offer a dramatically greater range of zinc products to our customers than ever before.

“CRC Zinc products can be used on structural steel, trailers, roofs, guard rails, welding seams, rivet holes, fencing, storage tank transformers, power generation equipment and much more and can also be used to touch up galvanised coatings.

With a wide array of specialist zinc products now available, CRC Industries Australia is confident there is a CRC Zinc product for your specific application.”

The  products for the range include the following:

CRC PREP IT

CRC Clear Zinc’s advanced protective coating technology protects surfaces from chemical, environmental, and ultraviolet damage preventing rust, oxidation, corrosion, staining, and fading for up to 27 months. CRC Clear Zinc is an easy to use, long-lasting, high-performance protective clear coating that can be applied to almost any surface. It seals the surface with an impact-resistant, smooth, clear, and high gloss finish and provides protection from damaging UV light while being highly corrosion resistant. It is available as a 400ml ready to use aerosol.

CRC Prime It

CRC Prime It – Red Oxide Primer is a single pack penetrating shop primer with high levels of anti-corrosive zinc complexes. It is formulated for the protection of structural steel and iron and can be applied over clean or lightly rusted surfaces. It forms a durable protective coating with a red-oxide finish that does not require immediate overcoating but can be overcoated at a later stage if desired. The product offers high levels of anti-corrosive zinc complexes and up to three years of protection against exposed outdoor metals. It is available as a 400ml ready to use aerosol and is scratch-resistant and durable while being compatible with most standard paint systems for metals.

CRC Prep It

CRC Prep It is a single pack, high build, easy-sanding metal primer with a grey finish. Formulated with anti-corrosive zinc complexes, it outlasts most high build primers by inhibiting corrosion and forms a quick-drying protective coating with excellent adhesion to bare metal. It is ideal for use as a primer coat over bare metal or as an intermediate coat, is fast drying and boasts a heat resistance of up to 120°C. Zinc enriched for corrosion protection, it is compatible with most standard paint systems for metals and is available as a ready to use 400ml aerosol.

CRC Etch It

CRC Etch It is a single pack etch primer for white and yellow metals with excellent adhesion to bare metal. It is formulated for etching and key-coating bare aluminium, stainless steel, brass, copper and galvanised metal surfaces and forms a tenacious key coat to provide adhesion for painting aluminium, stainless steel, brass, copper and galvanised iron. It is tough and durable, fast-drying, compatible with most standard paint systems for metals and is available as a ready to use 400ml aerosol.

CRC Coloured Zincs

The quick-drying coating provided by CRC Coloured Zincs combines the superior rust inhibiting properties of zinc with a tough but flexible enamel coating and a coloured satin finish in recognised safety colours. Featuring high levels of anti-corrosive zinc complexes, the CRC Coloured Zincs resist undercutting and blistering from corrosion, unlike standard paint systems, instead of forming an effective corrosion barrier. With a gloss finish, the zincs fuse directly to clean iron or steel surfaces with no need for a primer on clean surfaces and stops rust and rust creepage even when scratched or abraded.

All the CRC Coloured Zincs provide long-term corrosion protection of up to three years in harsh conditions and can be applied over CRC Zinc to extend protection to six years. They are easy to re-apply over existing film or onto clean surfaces and are suitable for weld through applications. The new CRC Coloured Zincs – available in yellow, orange, red, blue, green, and white – are available as 400ml ready to use aerosols and complement the existing ‘black’ coloured zinc.

Also still available are the popular CRC Zinc It and CRC Bright Zinc products.

CRC’s Zinc It is a single component zinc-rich compound with a special epoxy binder which contains 95 percent of the highest purity zinc in the dried film, to provide rust prevention you can trust along with long term protection of steel thanks to its cathodic action. The quick-drying and tough coating offers the same advantages as hot-tip galvanising and provides exceptional long-term corrosion protection of up to six years in harsh conditions. Re-application for ongoing protection is a breeze and sacrificial anodisation of the zinc stops rust and rust creepage even when scratched, abraded, or dented. It does not contain lead and is available as a 350g ready to use aerosol.

CRC’s Bright Zinc is a zinc-rich paint which produces a highly protective coating which resembles the colour of new galvanising. It contains more than 50 per cent of the highest purity zinc in the dried film which is comprised of a high level of special water-resistant binder, providing long-term corrosion protection of up to five years in harsh conditions. The bright galvanised finish is ideal for the repair of galvanised surfaces to restore rust protection and only a single coat is needed. CRC Bright Zinc is available as a 350g easy to apply and ready to use aerosol.
