CleanSpace Powered Air-Purifying Respirators

 

CleanSpace PAPRs (Powered Air-Purifying Respirators) are a modern powered airflow system driven by innovative technology, developed by biomedical engineers with a deep expertise in respiratory medical devices.

CleanSpace engineers provide continuous innovation to ensure that workers are able to access the best technology supporting respiratory protection. In 2023, they launched their latest range of respirators – the CleanSpace CST PRO and the CleanSpace CST ULTRA. The CST units are constructed to be lightweight and easy-to-use. Weighing less than 450g, these units are compact in size which enhances the comfort of respiratory protection and does not impede user mobility.

Advanced Respirator Technology

What makes CleanSpace respirators stand apart from other respiratory protection equipment is the patented Airsensit® technology. Airsensit® continues to monitor the internal positive mask pressure a 100 times per second to maintain protection while a worker is conducting a full range of tasks and activities.

The protection is maintained and continually responds even when there is a breach to the mask seal such as movement, slipping, exertion in breathing, talking or individual facial presentations. The user experiences a breath-responsive flow of air which modulates gently with their breathing..

The CleanSpace CST PRO and the CleanSpace CST ULTRA have a new motor control algorithm which provides a more natural breath-responsive flow of air for the wearer. An optimisation of the motor impeller profile design has further improved the respirator’s flow efficiency, and an internal mechanical design updates has lowered the air path resistance.

With these updates, a wearer has found that the airflow is even quieter and more responsive to their breathing. It frees them up to concentrate on the task at hand, as the CST respirator is more intuitive to their breathing needs.

 

 

CleanSpace SMART Technology

With increasing workplace demand for respiratory compliance, the CST range is Bluetooth-enabled for connectivity between a CST respirator to the CleanSpace SMART App. The respirator collects and stores respirator and filter usage behaviour for each minute of use in POWER-ON status.

Prior to entering a site, workers can pair their respirator with the App and check information such as their level of respiratory protection, the battery life remaining for the session, and the filter status such as how much particulate filter is remaining for use. Since a particulate filter is a mechanical filter, the respirator continually calculates the filter resistance and will sound an alarm to alert the wearer that the filter is close to being blocked.

However until now combination gas filters have relied on breakthrough taste and smell, or a manual system where usage time is marked on a card to signal a filter change requirement., The CleanSpace SMART App is able to be programmed and sends a pre-determined maximum use time to the combination gas filter chip. When the usage time has reached the maximum time limit, an alarm will sound on the respirator indicating a change requirement. This is an important complement to the detection of breakthrough smells and tastes.

 

The CleanSpace SMART Insights provides the opportunity for a site to utilise the latest technology and elevate their safety and workplace protection efforts. This can also be integrated into their Respiratory Protection Compliance Programs.
