Choosing the Right Safety Boots for the Task

When PPE is the last line of defence for workers, quality matters! Not all safety boots are created equal. Quality safety footwear not only adheres to Australian Standards, but is designed for the specific working environment. Different industries, workplaces and jobs come with different types of risk, which means footwear needs to match for optimum safety – one-size definitely doesn’t fit all!
Fit-for-purpose footwear from Blundstone
Safety footwear from Blundstone complies with AS 2210.3:2019 (protection against injury risk in industrial and commercial environments). Blundstone also offers boots to meet a range of workplace requirements.
For example, the 6-inch zip-sided Blundstone Rotoflex #9060 is designed for workers in higher-heat environments such as mining, asphalting or working on steel plates. Its GripTek®XHD sole is heat resistant up to 300℃ as well as being oil, slip and electrical hazard resistant.
The Blundstone #787 executive boot is a classic unisex elastic-sided design. It offers slip resistance with a 140℃ heat-resistant sole. This boot is suited to general site work, as well as being at home in the boardroom for workers who need to juggle customer-facing and on-site tasks!
The heavy-duty Blundstone Extreme Series #980 is the premium choice for underground mine sites, one of the most demanding work environments. Developed in collaboration with miners, this high-leg waterproof leather boot has a non-metallic penetration-resistant insole, while the rubber outsole offers heat and slip resistance.
Why not any safety boot will do
All workers know how important safety boots are. Just ask Matt, who was injured when he slipped while swapping out a heavy electric motor on a multi-storey roof. He was wearing safety boots, but had just bought what was comfortable. “These days there’s loads more choice, and you can get really good quality work boots that are specifically designed for the type of work you’re doing,” says Matt.
Blundstone’s National Major Accounts Manager, Chris Beaton, says Blundstone has been designing and manufacturing award-winning safety footwear for more than 150 years. “Blundstone aims to provide safety footwear which is fit-for-purpose, and puts quality and safety first. The range includes dozens of styles built to keep workers safe and comfortable, no matter what job, environment or challenge the day holds. This helps to ensure that workers get home safely to their families.”
