A fit-for-purpose fall arrest solution for women

Written by PIP Australia | 22 July 2026

For years, women working at heights on construction sites and in warehouses have been wearing smaller versions of men’s safety harnesses.

But wearing a men’s harness that has just been sized down to fit a smaller frame can come with issues, including straps that are poorly positioned, and bulky or loose webbing that makes it hard to get the harness on and adjusted properly. If the fit of the harness is off, safety and comfort can be compromised.

This is where PIP Global Safety has stepped in, releasing the LINQ women’s safety harness to fill the gap in the market.

Tailored to suit the female anatomy.

James Moule, National Category Manager ANZ - Fall Protection for PIP Global Safety, says the local design team worked hard to get the fit of the harness right. Where the webbing crosses on the lower torso, designers brought it forward to suit the different female hip alignment.

They narrowed the padding on the shoulder straps to fit the smaller female shoulder width, eliminating bulk that can chafe and irritate around the neck. Most importantly, they replaced the traditional straps with a Y-shaped design that fits comfortably across the chest, without constricting movement.

The harness is fully adjustable across the shoulder and leg straps and currently comes in a medium/large size, with plans to add a small size and an XL size to the range.

James says the process took some trial and error and a few adjustments of the design, but the result is a harness that is easy for women to put on and adjust for optimum safety, without being uncomfortable to wear.

He says the harness can be used across construction and warehousing applications, for ladder or scaffolding work, or in any situation where a fall arrest solution is required.

“We're happy where we're are now with the style and the design. The feedback's been really great so far,” he says.

Key features of the LINQ women’s safety harness.

The harness is made from UV resilient polyester, and features:

  • Pebble weave webbing: Designed to provide maximum grip for buckles, helping eliminate slippage and the need for readjustment.
  • Quality fall arrest hardware: The hardware is made from drop forged corrosion-resistant high tensile steel.
  • Stitching for strength: The THETA pattern combines 313 stitches to exceed 28kn of strength.
  • Air COOL padded straps: Designed to offer all-day comfort and enhanced breathability.
  • Quick-release buckles: Fast, secure and easy to use, the buckles make donning and doffing the harness quick and simple.
  • High visibility: Retro-reflective thread is woven directly into the webbing for visibility in low-light conditions.

When it comes to safety harnesses, women no longer need to compromise on gear that doesn’t fit them well. The LINQ women’s safety harness allows women to work confidently and securely, knowing their equipment has been designed with their needs and safety in mind!
