5 Tips for Choosing the Best Industrial Air Conditioner

Written by Fanmaster | Nov 15, '21

Keeping your workplace cool in summer not only keeps workers more comfortable, but also helps protect your equipment and stock. In that sense, getting the best industrial air conditioner for your workplace can be a good business investment.

Since summer isn’t far away, now might be a good time to start looking for an air conditioning unit for your warehouse or workshop.

Here are some of the factors you should consider.

1. The size of the space to be cooled

For maximum efficiency, your air conditioner should match the size of the area to be cooled. If too small in terms of cooling capacity, it won’t be able to cool the space effectively. If too large however, it will cost you more than it should in terms of energy.

2. Specific workplace needs

Do you need to cool a large area continuously or only certain areas at specific times? If it’s the latter, then you may want to consider zone cooling, or a portable unit for spot cooling.

3. Indoor environment

Consider the impact of your workplace environment on heat entrapment. Examples include the construction materials and level of glass in your building, the heat generated by equipment and processes, whether doors to outside are continually opened and closed, and so on.

4. Location and climate

This could affect the type of cooling unit you should get. For example, while evaporative cooling is a very cost-effective way to cool a workshop, it’s best suited to drier climates and is not ideal for areas that experience high humidity during summer. In this case a reverse cycle or portable air conditioner would be more suitable.

5. Portability

Consider whether a fixed or portable unit would suit you best. For example, a portable unit may provide you with greater flexibility, as it can be moved from one spot to another and to different work locations.

Making your decision

There’s a lot of choice in the market when it comes to industrial air conditioners and coolers, and you should take some time in making your decision.

All of the above factors need to be factored in when it comes to choosing the best unit or units for your needs.
